Passion: John F Kennedy often told Gunilla von Post that he loved her
His affairs, from Marilyn Monroe to the reputed girlfriend of a Mafia boss, have been well documented.
But now never-before-seen love letters from John F Kennedy to a Swedish lover 15 years his junior are being put up for auction.
The secret messages, expected to fetch more than £75,000, were written to 21-year-old socialite Gunilla von Post when the future President was an ambitious U.S. senator in the 1950s.
Their friendship began a month before his marriage to Jacqueline Bouvier and continued afterwards, with Kennedy telling Miss von Post that he wanted to divorce his wife to be with her instead.
The pair shared a week-long tryst at a Swedish castle before Kennedy ended the affair and their two-year correspondence.
Miss von Post, now 78, revealed their affair in a 1997 book in which she claimed Kennedy talked with his father about divorce and arranging for her to move to New York and work as a model.
Secret: Eleven handwritten letters and three telegrams between JFK and his Swedish mistress Gunilla von Post are expected to sell for £75,000 at auction
But the 11 handwritten letters and three telegrams sent by Kennedy have remained private until now.
The pair first met in the south of France in the summer of 1953. After spending a night dancing, they parted with a kiss but Kennedy was so smitten that he later tracked down Miss von Post's address and began writing.
In the first letter dated September 1954, six months after his marriage, Kennedy says he expects to return to France and asks if she will be there. Three months later, Kennedy sent a second letter in which he expresses his longing to be with Miss von Post.
Saying that he is to visit Europe, he writes: 'I thought I might get a boat and sail around the Mediterranean for two weeks with you as crew. What do you think?'
Ambitious: JFK began the affair with Miss von Post before he married Jacqueline Bouvier and it carried on until 1955
Affair: The U.S. president was 15 years older than Miss von Post and was well known for a string of affairs, including one with Marilyn Monroe
But before the assignation could take place Kennedy sent a telegram cancelling it after suffering a crippling back injury that required extensive surgery.
In a November 1954 letter written from his hospital bed, he asks if she would visit the U.S.
The affair was finally consummated in August 1955 when the couple met at a castle in her native Sweden. Miss von Post said: 'I borrowed him for a week, a beautiful week that no one can take away from me.'
But months later the affair was over with Kennedy sending a last, handwritten note saying: 'I just got word today - that my wife and sister are coming here' and describing his emotions as 'complicated'.
Mistress: JFK had a number of affairs, including one with Hollywood star Marilyn Monroe, right, before he was assassinated in 1963
In July 1956 Miss von Post married Anders Ekman.
In her book, she revealed that she and Kennedy met for a final time at the 'April in Paris Ball' at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York in
She said they had a fleeting embrace, with Kennedy telling her: 'It's marvellous to se you' before parting.
The selection of letters are being sold by Chicago-based Legendaryauctions.com. 1958.

My wife keeps secrets. I have been married for just over 10 years to a woman I truly love. We have two happy children, I work full time, and she.
Secret Letter #1 "...I regret letting your parents break us up so many years ago. We were young and they thought I was a bad influence. They sent you away to some distant aunt, and I moved on regrettably. I finally settled down. Successful career. Two beautiful kids, but I still think of you from time to time. I found you on Facebook. You seem happy but I so much would like to contact you, if just to get some closure. I would never do anything to harm your life, but would like to at least know if you remember me fondly." Male, Age 57
Secret Letter # 2 "...I regret that I never told you I loved you. I regret that I never told you how much you mean to me, what kind of man you are, how I think the world of you even when you think the world is crashing down around you. I wish I would have told you that you are the man that I compare every other man to. That none match up because they're not you. You're the man that makes me light up when you walk in the room or when I hear your name. I regret not telling you those things. But I would have regretted telling you them even more... she's still your wife. She's still my best friend."
Secret Letter #3 "...I regret that I listened to you when you said marrying him was 'the right thing to do.' You were wrong. The right thing to do would have been to give 'us' a shot. Now I'm married, and still in love with you. Sadly, you realized too late you loved me too. And now, we're both too scared to admit our mistakes." Female, Age 33
Secret Letter #4 "...I regret taking your call after 18 years. I regret texting you all day every day since then. I regret continuing to speak to you. I regret going to see you. For us to be happy we have to destroy our families. I just can't do it to my daughter, but I can't imagine my life without you again."
Secret Letter #5 "...I regret telling you that I wasn't in love with you anymore. Mainly because you believed me and left the children and I... but also because it isn't true. I knew that you were unhappy, so I lied to you partly hoping that you would fight to get my love back... instead you left and have moved on. I hope you are as happy as you say... that's all I want for you. And secretly someday, I hope you regret leaving."
Secret Letter #6 "...I regret letting you go. I love you so much. It's all I ever think about. I love everything about you. I regret driving by your house. Because every time I do, I see her car in your driveway, and I die inside. I miss you so much. I love you with all of my heart, mind and soul. And I always will."
Secret Letter #7 "...I regret never really saying goodbye. I regret leaving you for no reason. I regret leaving you for him because he was more 'popular.' I regret letting him treat me the way he does when I know you wouldn't dream of. I regret taking advantage of you. You did anything and everything for me. I regret that it's been a year and a half and my eyes still tear up. I regret not knowing how things would've ended up. I hope you find happiness. I miss you."
Secret Letter #8 "...I regret that I can't just get on a plane and be with you. I regret telling him I'd try when I have no interest in being with him. I regret sleeping next to him and dreaming of you. Because it's not fair to any of us." Female, Age 27
Secret Letter #9 "...Finding old memento's still kills me. I wish I stuck with my initial gut instinct. I knew this is exactly where we would end up, but I couldn't resist -- I wanted you so bad. Now here we are, best friends who became lovers, who are now ignoring each other, and dealing with a killed friendship."
Secret Letter #10 "...I regret not telling you how I felt sooner. Now, you've settled for less, you're not happy, and he treats you like sh*t. You deserve better, and I wish I would have made it happen."
Since early days of mankind love letters have remained the favorite mode of expressing the deepest feelings of a loving heart to its lover. Lovers used to pour out their hearts on pieces of papers which then found their ways to the hands of the recipients. Since then time has changed and now is the era of smartphones and computers. But love letters are still widely accepted and written all over the world.
Just being around you gives me a happiness that no one else could ever give me. You have given me a love that I had never known before .I love being with you and cannot imagine a world without you in it. Each morning, I wake up and thank God that you have been a part of my life. I just cannot find the words to tell you how happy I am that we met and got together. You have been the rock I turned to during difficulties and the guiding light that lit the way whenever I was lost. I want to tell you that my love is undying and eternal, but I cant find a way to express it properly. I know that my love is enduring enough to last a lifetime, and I feel blessed that you are a part of my life. I wake up each day and bounce out of bed because I know that I will get to see or talk to you during the day.
I promise that I will always love you and keep you dear in my heart. I will be there for you whenever you need me and will love you no matter where life ends up taking us. You are my soul mate, and I cannot exist without you by me. I love you.
2- I Love being with you.
There is no one else I'd rather be with you. You make me smile in a way no one else can. You're the first thing I wanna see in the morning, and the last thing I wanna see at night. I've never loved anyone the way I love you. You're my other half. My love ,my best boyfriend. My happy ever after. You're everything I have ever hoped and wished for. I love you and only you.
3- My love,
As I am writing this letter, I have thousands of thoughts running through my mind.
Through this letter I wanted to express my love for you that is honestly hard to put into words.
Do you know how much you mean to me?
There isn't a day that goes by when my mind isn't thinking of you.
You are the reason behind every piece of joy in my life. You are the one that has lifted me up to show me the beauty of life. There is no other person in this world that could have done that for me.
I want to give all of the happiness the world could possibly give.
You are my dream come true- you are the love of my life.
4-I Love You
I love you for being my sweetheart,
I love you for being my partner and my friend.
I love you for the caring and joy that you share without end.
I love you for the warm tender touch and the things you do for me.
I love you for the way you help all my dreams come true and for filling my world with your love.
I love you for all you are and what you are.
I love you Today, Tomorrow, Forever ...
I'll never stop loving you.
5-Love of my life,
It feels like we just met yesterday, but at the same time I feel I have known you all my life. I love us. Were the cutest .we make the perfect couple. We understand each other. We listen to each other. We inspire each other Everything else feel meaningless because the only thing that matters is You. I would be lost without you. Thank you for everything you have done for me
I know you are the only one for me. When I'am away from you, you are the one who is continuously on my mind.
From the moment when I first saw you, I know our friendship was going to blossom into something beautiful.
You are the true love in my life.
You are the only one who can make me feel the way you do.I look forward to the life we will be living together.
It is you that I want to sit next to as we are ageing and it is you I want to rest next to.
7-To my everything,
I hate being apart from you, but our long distance love gives me something to look forward to each and every day. I keep counting down the moments until I get to feel your arms wrapped around me again, until I get to fall asleep to the sound of your soft breathing. I love you and I miss you Not seeing you has been slowly driving me insane. I cannot wait until the day when we live together.
Even after all of this time, I still get butterflies when you smile at me. I still feel light as air when you press your lips against me. Just thinking about you on top of me, trailing kisses across my chest and stomach and thighs, is making me want you. Badly. I hope we can fix that tonight. What do you say?
We have been seeing each other for a long time now but I was never able to express my love to you. This time, I am writing this letter to firmly express my heart out in front of you. I want to say that you are the driving force of my life who keeps me sane when I am agitated at times. You are the magician who knows the ways of calming me down and keeps her cool throughout. Your charms are beguiling and it is because of them that I have started loving you a thousand folds more. I have started adoring you more and more each day. I want our relationship to flourish this way forever and ever. And I am going to keep loving you more each and everyday.
There's no one who can take your place.
The way you smile, the way you look, the way you always know what I am thinking about,
the way you gave me hug when all was needed, the way you cry, laugh, listen and love.
You share your hopes and dreams and help me shared mine; you touch my life and there will never be another you.
You have touched me more profoundly than I ever thought you could touch me.
I love you.
You are the one who has given meaning to my life and I am very glad that our relationship has gone through a paradise visit from when it started. The stars are waiting to come out at night to remind us about the sparkling moments of our life.
May our love be a remarkable one which reach the moon and stars and bring a new meaning to life.
We both know we have a very special relationship -Without ever needing to say so how in love we are.
But now I want to say you are very precious to me. I love to be close to you. You are more beautiful than sunshine, more precious than gold. You are sweeter than candy and more lovely than the moon. You are exquisite and delightful, special and unique. And whats most astounding of all, you want to be with me.
I remember the first time I met you. It was one of the best moments of my life. I couldn't understand why you were so special to me. But the time we spent together was so enchanting that each moment without you feel like a punishment to me. I only know how difficult it was for me to restrain myself from rushing to you and to concentrate on my work. Sometimes when I couldn't bear your absence, I would call you up. And somewhere along the way, I myself opened up without even realizing it. We slowly developed a deep love, and eventually we both knew it. It was so beautiful a feeling
I am madly in love with you, my darling.
The moment that I first met you,
I knew with absolute certainty and clarity that we were meant to be.
I wasn't being presumptuous when I thought so,
for there was this voice within my soul that just validated this thought.
This voice found validation the day you asked me out and I,
with absolute confidence in that voice, said yes to you.
Since that very day till today,
I haven't regretted a moment in your company and that is how I know that I am lucky to have found you.
You are my every dream come true.
I wanted to write you a love letter, and a thank you note Maybe its both. I want to thank you for all of the hugs you have offered me to squeeze the sadness out and all of the pep talks you have given me when I doubted myself. Most of all, thank you for being my partner. Thank you for being my best friend in the world.
15- You entered my heart Slowly, quietly and passionately
Your love spread through me.
Now Why are you so perfect,
God only knows..,
In every direction, there is you just you.
My emotions are rising and I am facing short of breath;
My heart is beating fast
What madness, what obsession
What can I say of my state now?
My heart, my soul, my whole world,
you are my only desire.
My sweetheart only You!!
I adore you. I long to hold you close to me. I feel such warmth and comfort when I am in your arms. I am relaxed and content when we sit on the couch and talk. My heart is at peace when lay on the floor and cuddle. My heart quivers when you touch my face and my passion flows when you touch my lips. I get immense pleasure from gently touching your face and feel tremendous yearning and passion when I touch your lips. I long to be near you. I want nothing more than to be close to you.
With a passionate affection,
Since the time I met you, I must that you that I have never felt so divine in my entire life. I never thought I was capable of experiencing such type of emotions but I realized that just a look of you makes me feel bliss. You bring with you the warmth of spring, the joy of rain and the calmness of summers. My world has turned upside down since the time you have stepped into my life. You make me feel truly alive. All I want from you is the care and love I am longing for. Promise me that you will be by my side forever.
Hey, as you know things aren't working well with us, here I am writing this letter to you to let you know what I feel. Baby, I love you immensely. All I think about is you and the moments which make you mine. Babe, I am sorry if I was being too stubborn yesterday. Just remember that I am so much in love with you and I can't wait to see you in the evening. I am living the best time of my life with you and I don't want to have a fight. All I want is to love you and be with you. I love this life which we share.
I am so sorry I initiated a fight with you. Today, the whole day I was constantly thinking of you, you were on my mind every now and then. It is so crazy about me that today every little thing reminded me of you. I was imagining you by my side and your smile, your voice, your laugh giggled in my ears. I was thinking of you and felt the touch of your hands over mine. I am so sorry I fought with you. Your presence in my life completes me and makes me feel alive. Since the time you left the house, I feel deserted and unloved. Your name is at the edge of my lips since morning. Please forgive me and love me more. I feel so miserable without you. My fondness for you has no bounds. Come and hug me after reading this s I want you in my arms right now.
I love you!
1- Hello my love,
It is important you read this letter, because the reason to write it will convince you of many things.
It was two years ago that you first told me you loved me and asked me to be your girlfriend. Remembering our first kiss is remembering since when my heart beats for you. Knowing you are with me makes my life a dream come true. I'm the luckiest woman in the world as I'm in love with my best friend.
My love for you have grown deeper. Whenever something good happens, you're the first person I want to share with.. When I am sad, I know that I can count on you to take me in your arms and tell me everything will be alright.
I just wanted let you know that I love you more than even the most heartfelt words can express.
2- Hey Sweetie,
You were already on my mind when I woke up this morning. I just can't stop thinking about you. You are the most important person in my life. So, I just wanted to say I love you, and I can't wait to see you again.
Just being with you has made all my dreams come true, and I want to do everything I can to make you feel that way too. You deserve to be treasured for being the sweetest, kindest, most thoughtful boyfriend any girl could ask for, and believe me, I do treasure youYours only,
Love you always, my dearest
1- My Love,
Just a moment ago I thought about you and my heart was filled with gratitude. So before another moment goes by I want to say thank you.
Thank you for the late night laughs and the early morning kisses.
Thank you for holding my hand throughout this life and proving that good men do still exist.
Thank you for your love and friendship. And most of all, thank you for the pleasure of being your wife.
1- If only I were a clever woman, I could describe to you my gorgeous bird, how you unite in yourself the beauties of form, plumage, and song!
I would tell you that you are the greatest marvel of all ages, and I should only be speaking the simple truth. But to put all this into suitable words, my superb one, I should require a voice far more harmonious than that which is bestowed upon my species
I will not tell you to what degree you are dazzling and to the birds of sweet song who, as you know, are none the less beautiful and appreciative.
I love you, I love you. My Victor; I can not reiterate it too often; I can never express it as much as I feel it.
I recognise you in all the beauty that surrounds me in form, in colour, in perfume, in harmonious sound: all of these mean you to me. You are superior to all. I see and admire - you are all!
You are not only the solar spectrum with the seven luminous colours, but the sun himself, that illumines, warms, and revivifies! This is what you are, and I am the lowly woman that adores you.
2- No, nothing has the power to part me from you; our love is based upon virtue, and will last as long as our lives.
Adieu, there is nothing that I will not brave for your sake; you deserve much more than that.
Adieu, my dear heart!
3- I belong to you; there is really no other way of expressing it, and that is not strong enough.
How could I, fool that I am, go on sitting in my office, or here at home, instead of leaping onto a train with my eyes shut and opening them only when I am with you?
4- I already love in you your beauty, but I am only beginning to love in you that which is eternal and ever precious - your heart, your soul.
Beauty one could get to know and fall in love with in one hour and cease to love it as speedily; but the soul one must learn to know.
Count Leo Tolstoy
1- I Love you because I love you,
Because it would be impossible
for me nit to love you.
I love you without question,
without calculation, without reason good or bad,
faithfully, with all my heart and soul, and every faculty.
Believe it, for it is true.
If you cannot believe, I being at your side,
I will make a drastic effort to force you to do so.
2- I love you.
You are truly the one for me.
The day would not be complete without you.
You are my smile, my tears,
my laughter, my heart, my soul,
my love, my life.
You are my everything.
I never want to be without you.
I want to grow old with you.
3- The day when I started loving you is the day that I lost myself.
Your love has so much power that I can be what you meant to be.
Your love has given me the start to foresee.
The love that you have given me is truly selfless.
When you don't see me baby I feel so restless.
Not a single moment I would like to stay without you as you
know that you do for me and ways which I so want to see.
My baby you are and will remain in my destiny.
I love you so much.
4- You are my only love.
You have me completely in your power.
I know and feel that if I am to write anything fine and noble in the future I shall do so only by listening at the doors of your heart.
I would like to go through life side by side with you, telling you more and more until we grew to be one being together until the hour should come for us to die.
5- Sweetest Fanny,
You fear, sometimes, I do not love you so much as you wish?
My dear Girl I love you ever and ever and without reserve.
The more I have known you the more have I lov'd. In every way - even my jealousies have been agonies of Love, in the hottest fit I ever had I would have died for you.
You are always new. The last of your kisses was ever the sweetest; the last smile the brightest; the last movement the gracefullest.
When you pass'd my window home yesterday, I was fill'd with as much admiration as if I had then seen you for the first time. Even if you did not love me I could not help an entire devotion to you: how much more deeply then must I feel for you knowing you love me.
My Mind has been the most discontented and restless one that ever was put into a body too small for it.
I never felt my Mind repose upon anything with complete and undistracted enjoyment - upon no person but you.
When you are in the room my thoughts never fly out of window: you always concentrate my whole senses.
6- In that word, beautiful in all languages, but most so in yours--Amor mio--is comprised my existence here and hereafter.
I feel I exist here, and I feel I shall exist hereafter,--to what purpose you will decide; my destiny rests with you,
But I more than love you, and cannot cease to love you.
Think of me, sometimes, when the Alps and ocean divide us,--but they never will, unless you wish it.
George Gordon Lord Byron
7- I have a thousand images of you in an hour; all different and all coming back to the same... And we love. And we've got the most amazing secrets and understandings. Noel, whom I love, who is so beautiful and wonderful. I think of you eating omlette on the ground. I think of you once against a sky line: and on the hill that Sunday morning.
And that night was wonderfullest of all. The light and the shadow and quietness and the rain and the wood. And you. You are so beautiful and wonderful that I daren't write to you... And kinder than God. Your arms and lips and hair and shoulders and voice - you.
1- Dearest, - I wish I had the gift of making rhymes, for methinks there is poetry in my head and heart since I have been in love with you.
You are a Poem.
Of what sort, then? Epic?
Mercy on me, no! A sonnet?
No; for that is too labored and artificial.
You are a sort of sweet, simple, gay, pathetic ballad, which Nature is singing, sometimes with tears, sometimes with smiles, and sometimes with intermingled smiles and tears.
2- In addition to being a brilliant military mind and feared ruler, Napolean Bonaparte (1763 - 1821) was a prolific writer of letters. He reportedly wrote as many as 75,000 letters in his lifetime, many of them to his beautiful wife, Josephine, both before and during their marriage. This letter, written just prior to their 1796 wedding, shows surprising tenderness and emotion from the future emperor.
Paris, December 1795
I wake filled with thoughts of you. Your portrait and the intoxicating evening which we spent yesterday have left my senses in turmoil. Sweet, incomparable Josephine, what a strange effect you have on my heart! Are you angry? Do I see you looking sad? Are you worried?... My soul aches with sorrow, and there can be no rest for you lover; but is there still more in store for me when, yielding to the profound feelings which overwhelm me, I draw from your lips, from your heart a love which consumes me with fire? Ah! it was last night that I fully realized how false an image of you your portrait gives!
You are leaving at noon; I shall see you in three hours.
Until then, mio dolce amor, a thousand kisses; but give me none in return, for they set my blood on fi

3- Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827), one of history's most famous and mysterious composers died at the age of 57 with one great secret. Upon his death, a love letter was found among his possessions. It was written to an unknown woman who Beethoven simply called his *Immortal Beloved.*
The world may never put a face with this mysterious woman or know the circumstances of their affair and his letters are all that is left of a love as intensely passionate as the music for which Beethoven became famous. Compositions such as the Moonlight Sonata as well as Beethoven's many symphonies express eloquently the tragedy of a relationship never publicly realized.
July 6, 1806
My angel, my all, my very self -- only a few words today and at that with your pencil -- not till tomorrow will my lodgings be definitely determined upon -- what a useless waste of time. Why this deep sorrow where necessity speaks -- can our love endure except through sacrifices -- except through not demanding everything -- can you change it that you are not wholly mine, I not wholly thine?
Oh, God! look out into the beauties of nature and comfort yourself with that which must be -- love demands everything and that very justly -- that it is with me so far as you are concerned, and you with me. If we were wholly united you would feel the pain of it as little as I!
Now a quick change to things internal from things external. We shall surely see each other; moreover, I cannot communicate to you the observations I have made during the last few days touching my own life -- if our hearts were always close together I would make none of the kind. My heart is full of many things to say to you - Ah! -- there are moments when I feel that speech is nothing after all -- cheer up -- remain my true, only treasure, my all as I am yours; the gods must send us the rest that which shall be best for us.
4- My adorable and adored
I have been asking myself every moment if such happiness is not a dream.
It seems to me that what I feel is not of earth. I cannot yet comprehend this cloudless heaven. My whole soul is yours.
My Adele, why is there no word for this but joy? Is it because there is no power in human speech to express such happiness?sometimes I tremble lest I should suddenly awaken from this dream divine.
Oh, now you are mine! At last you are mine! Soon -- in a few months, perhaps, my angel will sleep in my arms, will awaken in my arms, will live there.
All your thoughts at all moments, all your looks will be for me; all my thoughts, all my moments, all my looks, will be for you!
Adieu, my angel, my beloved Adele! Adieu!
Still I am far from you, but I can dream of you.
Soon perhaps you will be at my side.
Adieu; pardon the delirium of your husband who embraces you, and who adores you, both for this life and another.
5- You have touched me more profoundly than I thought even you could have touched me - my heart was full when you came here today. Henceforward I am yours for everything.
Elizabeth Barrett Browning
6- The passion of love has need to be productive of much delight; as where it takes thorough possession of the man, it almost unfits him for anything else.
The lover who is certain of an equal return of affection, is surely the happiest of men; but he who is a prey to the horrors of anxiety and dreaded disappointment, is a being whose situation is by no means enviable.
Of this, my present experience gives me much proof.
To me, amusement seems impertinent, and business intrusion, while you alone engross every faculty of my mind.
May I request you to drop me a line, to inform me when I may wait upon you?
For pity's sake, do; and let me have it soon.
In the meantime allow me, in all the artless sincerity of truth, to assure you that I truly am,
my dearest Madam,
your ardent lover, and devoted humble servant
7- If all that I have said and done, and am still but too ready to say and do, have not sufficiently proved what my real feelings are and must be ever towards you, my love, I have no other proof to offer.
My Dearest & Most Beloved Friend
Bless you -- ever & even more than ever.
Your most attached
Is there anything on earth or heaven would have made me so happy as to have made you mine long ago? and not less now than then, but more than ever at this time -- you know I would with pleasure give up all here and all beyond the grave for you
I was and am yours, freely and most entirely, to obey, to honour, love --and fly with you when, where, and how you yourself might and may determine.
8- I will cover you with love when next I see you, with caresses, with ecstasy.
When you are old, I want you to recall those few hours, I want your dry bones to quiver with joy when you think of them.
9- Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) was born in Corsica. He became an army officer in 1785, and after rapid promotion, took command of the army of the interior in 1795. After a coup in 1799, Napoleon became first consul, and in 1804 emperor. Between 1804 and 1810 he consolidated his empire in Europe. In 1814, following defeat in Russia, he abdicated and was banished to Elba. In 1815 he resumed power, but was crushed at the Battle of Waterloo and exiled to St. Helena, where he died in 1821.
I love you no longer; on the contrary, I detest you. you are a wretch, truly perverse, truly stupid, a real Cinderella. You never write to me at all, you do not love your husband; you know the pleasure that your letters give him yet you cannot even manage to write him half a dozen lines, dashed off in a moment! What then do you do all day, Madame? What business is so vital that it robs you of the time to write to your faithful lover? What attachment can be stifling and pushing aside the love, the tender and constant love which you promised him? Who can this wonderful new lover be who takes up your every moment, rules your days and prevents you from devoting your attention to your husband?
Beware, Josephine; one fine night the doors will be broken down and there I shall be. In truth, I am worried, my love, to have no news from you; write me a four page letter instantly made up from those delightful words which fill my heart with emotion and joy. I hope to hold you in my arms before long, when I shall lavish upon you a million kisses, burning as the equatorial sun.
10- Dearest if you are as fond of me as I am of you...nothing human could keep us long apart.
This last week has seemed an eternity tome; Oh, I would give my soul for another of those days we had together not long ago...
My first and only love...Believe me ever to be
Yrs devotedly and lovingly,
Lord Randolph Churchill:
11- "My dearest,
When two souls, which have sought each other for, however long in the throng, have finally found each other ...a union, fiery and pure as they themselves are... begins on earth and continues forever in heaven.
This union is love, true love, ... a religion, which deifies the loved one, whose life comes from devotion and passion, and for which the greatest sacrifices are the sweetest delights. This is the love which you inspire in me... Your soul is made to love with the purity and passion of angels; but perhaps it can only love another angel, in which case I must tremble with apprehension.
I am looking forward to holding you once again in my loving arms. You are beautiful. You are wonderful. You are special. You are mine!!!
From a loving and longing heart,
It's you and me, my sweetheart, just You and Me ...
I want you to know that no words can describe how deeply you touch my heart.
I tried so hard to put my thoughts on a paper,
but words escape every time I try. I only know that I Love you truly ...
I Love you deeply, more and more each day.
I don't know what I would do without you. You and Me, only you and me...
The secret messages were written to year-old socialite Gunilla von of letters are being sold by Chicago-based triochitarristicodiroma.com
John F. Kennedy's secret love letters to Gunilla von Post, a Swedish woman with whom Kennedy had had an affair, were sold for $115,537 Wednesday night, according to Legendary Auctions, which carried out the sale.
After widespread national and international interest, the letters went to an anonymous West Coast collector, according to Julie Stoklosa, a spokesperson for auction house.
The $115,537 price included an 18.5 percent buyer's premium, Stoklosa said.
Three weeks before Kennedy married Jacqueline Bouvier, he met von Post and the two began a fleeting but passionate romance. The relationship continued after Kennedy was married, von Post says.
Kennedy's relationship with the Swedish woman was documented in a series of poignant letters and telegrams. Von Post kept the correspondence locked away, so the letters were never made public until she put them up for auction last month.
In the letters, Kennedy expresses, in his scrawling longhand, his feelings for von Post.
"Under that beautiful, controlled face that still haunts me -- beats a warm heart," Kennedy wrote in a letter dated Dec., 18, 1954, according to a transcript on LegendaryAuctions.com.
The two met on the French Riviera in the summer of 1953. He was 36, and she was 21. They danced all night, and parted with a passionate kiss.
On June 28, 1954, during the summer after he was married, Kennedy wrote to von Post, saying: "I might get a boat and sail around the Mediterranean for two weeks -- with you as crew."
But their plans for a secret rendezvous fell apart when Kennedy badly injured his back.
In November 1954, he wrote to her from the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. His letter seemed full of longing.
"I am still in the hospital after two months. I was terribly disappointed that at the last moment I was not able to come to Europe, especially when you were going to be in Paris and we could have had such a good time. …" He wrote that he was going to see her without fail if she wasn't "all settled down" by then.
In the same letter, he wrote at the end: "Is there any chance you will be coming to the U.S.?"
Von Post, now 78 years old, first revealed the affair in a 1997 book, "Love, Jack." In an interview that year with ABC News' "20/20," she described how her heart went "boom-boom-boom-boom."
"I was very happy to hear from him, but I said, 'He's a married man,'" she told "20/20."
It wasn't until the following year that the two got together, slipping away to an old castle in Sweden.
"I borrowed him for a week, a beautiful week that no one can take away from me," she told "20/20."
John Reznikoff, president of University Archives, said the correspondence was "seeping with regret. ... These two people wanted to be together, and it wasn't meant to be."
"We've heard all the rumors. We know that JFK had many mistresses, but here we have proof. But not tawdry ... a sensitive love affair that you can understand through the correspondence."
Von Post has described the feelings between her and Kennedy as "electrical." But it wasn't to last.
In his final letter to von Post in August 1955, Kennedy wrote as though he sensed their destinies were drifting apart.
"I just got word today -- that my wife and sister are coming here. It will all be complicated the way I feel now -- my Swedish Flicka. All I have done is sit in the sun and look and the Ocean and think of Gunilla ... All Love, Jack."
The bidding for the letters started at $25,000. But Doug Allen, president of Legendaryauctions.com, knew they would fetch far more.
"We'll let the market determine the real economic value of this," he told ABC News last month. "My guess is they'll go for $100,000."
He was right.

I have had a love affair with Paris ever since I was a little girl. It began as a secret. A dream. A fantasy. Some may have called it an obsession. I like to consider it.
