Thank You Teacher Messages & Quotes From Students and Parents There's that one who gave their best and over the years, you realize.

Write Your Teacher a Heartfelt Thank-You Note

Good teachers help guide us to develop our potentials and embrace our strengths. Express your gratitude for your teacher with a heartfelt thank-you note. And maybe give them an inexpensive yet thoughtful gift to show your appreciation.

How to write a thank-you note to a teacher:

From an elementary student:

  • I am lucky to have the best teacher in this world. Wherever I may go in my life, I will always remember that I had an excellent guide in the form of a teacher, You.
    • Thank you for your guidance, friendship, and even for your discipline. I learned that I am strongest when I recognize what yet is weak and how I might best develop those parts of my character. Thank you for taking the time to be my friend. (Maybe not from a five-year-old, unless the child is a precocious specimen successfully shaped by this remarkable teacher’s effective teaching method.)
    • Thank you for creating an environment of enthusiasm for learning, appreciation for growing, and room for making mistakes along the way. I am grateful to have you as a guide, leading by example.
    • Thank you for sharing your gift of teaching with us!
    • You are not only our teacher, you are our friend, authority and guide, all rolled into one person. We will always be grateful to you for your support and kindness.
    • I may not always say it, but I mean it whenever I say it. Thank You, Teacher, for all the extra efforts you make to help us grow, and the challenges you encourage us to face to help us become who we are.

Notes from Student to Teacher

Dear Mr. Thompson,
When I first saw you walk into our classroom, I saw the kind of person I was proud to call my teacher. Every day you came to school with a smile on your face and a kind word for all of your students. That means a lot. Your love of learning ignited our own curiosity and made learning much more fun! You taught us all to appreciate clarity of mind through proper writing form and how to pay attention to the bigger picture. You will never know how much your guidance has helped me, but I wanted you to know that you have made a big difference in my life.
My thanks always,
Fred

Thank you for helping to make kindergarten such a positive experience for Billy. With all of your patience, creativity, and love, Billy has achieved a lot this year. He has started off on the right foot by having you as his teacher.
Thank you, Beatrice. You have made a great difference for all of our children. Because you care so much about them, you have directed them to trust themselves in all that they do and to become all that they dream.

Teacher Thank-You Poems

As teachers go
You are the best.
You shine above
All the rest.
So accept my thanks
For all you do
I’m very lucky
As my Teacher is you.

How can I thank you?
Let me count the ways.
Thank you for the 200
very special days!

An apple for our teacher
Would never be enough,
For teaching us about the world
And lots of other stuff.

Other Ways to Say Thanks

Make a list of all that your teacher taught you and/or what you learned through your teacher’s example. Make a book or scroll letter that lists them: “FORTY THINGS I LEARNED FROM MR. SCOTCH”.

Words to Thank a Teacher From Parents: To a Coach or Sports Mentor /Teacher

Dear Coach Jackson,

We want to express our thanks for making our son, Tim Findley, feel a part of the volleyball team this year. If you recall, Tim transferred into the district in late October just after you had officially ended try-outs. You agreed to make an exception and let him try-out for the team the following week, and fortunately, you selected him for the starting line-up. That exception, in itself, could have created jealousies among other students.

We, as well as Tim, feared that might be the case. But as the season began, you planned some very important team-building, “bonding” experiences for the boys as you traveled to various tournaments to scout the opposition. Those trips especially gave the team members a chance to get to know Tim quickly one on one off the court. Those opportunities made the transition much easier for him in the new school.

And by the way, I might add that his grades have reflected a comfortable adjustment as well.

As you may have guessed, changing schools in the middle of the year is never a good situation for any student, but for an athlete, it can be disastrous. Such was not the case for Tim this year, thanks to you. We do appreciate your constant encouragement, your competent coaching, and your efforts to see that the college scouts take a look at your athletes. What more could parents ask?

Sincerely,

Bill and Bob

To a Child’s Private Instructor / Tutor

Dear Michael,

Bruce has been taking swim lessons for three years, but it wasn’t until he enrolled in your class that he finally conquered his fear of water. I really appreciate your being so patient with him and working so hard to boost his confidence. The additional instruction you gave him after class really made a difference. Bruce is already looking forward to taking your Level 4 class next summer.

Cordially,

Barb

To Child’s Teacher

Dear Ms. Philly:

We so much appreciate the special attention you have given to Kelly while he has been hospitalized off and on throughout the year. As you know, such extended absences can play havoc with a child’s relationships with other students, and you have been particularly sensitive to making Kelly feel a part of the group when he was able to be in class.

Specifically, I want to thankyou for the several occasions when you gave the other children time to make cards and write notes to Kelly. Not only were you teaching your fourth-graders writing skills, you were teaching them to care about other people. That, I’m sure, is a direct reflection of your own personal commitment to your students.

And what a wonderful idea to record their class parties and special days to send home for Kelly. Although he sometimes watched through tears of disappointment that he could not be part of the festivities, those tapes kept him in touch with his friends during a very difficult time.

I’m sure teachers hear complaints from time to time, but I wanted you to know that we in our household and neighbourhood are certainly singing your praises. Thankyou so much for your dedication.

Sincerely,

Helen and Bob

Looking for a Gift to Show your Teacher Some Appreciation?

An apple works, or paying attention in class also provides a teacher with a special tingly. Give your teacher something practical and thoughtful — a simple lined journal with a funny cover on the front will bring a smile to your fav teacher’s face. Write a special note on the inside cover, perhaps.

If you have a few teachers on your list, a more frugal option is to buy a stack of blank thank-you notes and write each teacher a personalized message. Also appreciated.

Birthday wishes for teacher

Dear teacher, it was okay for me not to notice all those things you have been doing for me for years. But now I understand the value of your words, your wisdom and support. You were the one who always told me “do it” when I shouted “I can’t”. I would be nothing without your endless faith in me. Thank you so very much, dear teacher, happy birthday to you!

***

Today is such a lovely day, because it gave this world you, teacher. You are the most intelligent person I know, but it’s not what makes you so special to me. It’s your kindness, support and understanding that fill my every day with happiness. May all your dreams come true, happy birthday!

***

Your patience is unbelievable. Having a class of teenagers making noise, screaming, talking and laughing is unbearable. But somehow you can always find a way to calm them down, to show them that studying can be interesting and exciting as well as you’ve shown it to me. Wishing you the best of all in life. Congratulations!

***

We all respect you, teacher. You are not like all, you are not a standard teacher. You teach us to be good persons. Happy birthday!

***

Teacher. It’s not just a word to me. Those seven letters are filled with love, understanding and kindness. I’m so grateful that I have an opportunity to be your student, because there’s no one in this world who can be a better teacher then you. Wishing you lots of happiness in life. Each Teacher Is A Flower

by Ihsana Shirazi
(England)

These teacher appreciation messages prove that students are very grateful to their teachers. Perhaps these words to describe a teacher, based on a metaphor that teachers are flowers, means that teachers help their students to bloom!

Life is a beautiful garden;
Each teacher is a flower,
Who fills our lives with knowledge
And teaches us every hour.

They fill our lives with knowledge,
Smiles and patience too;
Your flower is very treasured;
It's special just like you.

You're always there to teach
Learning that has no end,
Believing in my dreams
As teacher and also friend.

A Note To My Teacher

by Eleonore
(CANADA)

This teacher note echoes the feelings of so many students for their teachers, that their lives would not be the same, now or in the future, if they had not had the advantage of good education. Beyond education, many students develop very positive feelings and a personal bond with their teachers in gratitude for what those teachers gave, from the heart, to their students.

Thank You, Teachers

by Chhimi S Wangmo

This thank you note for a teacher shows just how wide the influence of teachers can be on a receptive student. For some teachers, "thank you" really seems inadequate for the amount of gratitude we feel.

Thank you, teachers, for everything,
for being nice and kind to us,
for always staying near us.

Thank you for teaching us good new things,
for making us new, better people,
helping to erase the old, bad parts of us.

Thank you for making us comfortable and happy,
for being friends with us,
for sharing your past.

I know my simple words, "Thank you,"
are not enough for all you have done,
but know that I am really very grateful to you.
Thank you very much for everything.

Thank you, teachers.

Tell Your Teachers Now!

This is like a high school assignment on an enjoyable topic, an essay on memories of school and favorite teachers. This lengthy group of words, sayings and phrases about teachers evokes nostalgia for our own school days. Do you share any of these kinds of memories?

Most of my teachers have faded from memory, so much that I couldn't write a teacher poem about them. I remember a few names, but not much about the teachers themselves. I remember a high school teacher, Mrs. Dowling, who taught advanced placement English, because I recall her requiring us to memorize a passage from Shakespeare. I memorized some lines from Macbeth. I still remember them:

I sure don't agree with that passage! Signifying nothing? I hope not! I think everyone leaves his or her mark in some way, even if it's to eventually have a descendant who does great things long after the original parent is long forgotten.

I don't remember his name, but my Driver Training instructor taught me how to parallel park perfectly, and I can still do it.

My Home Economics teacher taught me how to sew, and using what she taught me, I won the regional Singer Sewing Contest. The prize, awarded in Chicago, was a sewing machine and $300. I still have and use that indestructible, all-metal sewing machine. What's amazing is that another student she taught, younger than I, won the national Singer Sewing Contest the same year!

The teacher I remember most fondly, now that I am older, is our choir teacher, Mr. Carr. Quiet and reserved, he nevertheless coaxed amazing music out of a bunch of ordinary teenagers. No easy pieces for us, no sir. We sang only classical: Beethoven's Ninth, Polovetsian Dances by Borodin, (from which the melody for the popular song "Strangers in Paradise" was taken), Handel's Messiah (I can still sing the alto part to the Hallelujah Chorus today). One of our favorite pieces was Randall Thompsons Alleluia. Every year, the choir would go on a picnic to some place, I don't remember where, that had a big cave, and we would all go into that cave and sing that "Alleluia."

Oh, one more thing. I remember that a friend and I caught a little mouse (by hand) in the hall and we took it to our science teacher, Mr. Johnson. I don't know what he did with it, but I was proud of myself (a girl!) for catching that mouse and not running a way from it!

Terrific memories. I'm sure I'm leaving someone important out, but my Teacher Message would be that I regret not having told my teachers how much I appreciated them back then. If you are reading this while you are still in school, do it!

My Teacher is The Best

by Addyson
(Ankeny, Iowa)

How could I resist posting this teacher message? I'm wondering if this is written by a fifth-grader, however, because this person can actually write a sentence, capitalize and punctuate correctly. Usually I edit submissions (often a LOT), but I did not do anything to this submission, to show you what I mean. If this is a fifth-grader, kudos to her teacher! I laughed aloud at the "grow up" part, since I have advanced senior citizen status!

I'll Never Give Up

by Karen Renay Byrd
(Trona, California)

My grades go up; my grades go down.
It makes me want to fret and frown.
My teacher never gets cross or mad
Or tells me that I'm dumb or bad.

He says I have the essential tools,
But it's up to me to follow the rules.
Nothing but fear stands in my way,
So I'll stomp it down and out today

I'll always choose to do my best
When I am challenged to the test.
Thank you teacher for showing me
Just what I can be
If I believe in me.

favourite teacher!

You are so smart, wise and so
incredibly funny but out of all
your remarkable qualities, the
thing I admire most about you
is your generosity.

For example, the amazing grade
you’re probably going to give me
because of this sincere, heartfelt
birthday message I took the time
to write for you!

Have a truly wonderful day!
Your classes are more than a simple lesson on some subject, they are lessons on life. You manage to keep it both interesting and fun. I never thought I could have so much fun learning.

You are the best teacher of all, not just because the reasons that I've already mentioned, but also because you bring out the best in your students.

I wish you the best of birthdays!
Not all heroes wear capes, teacher!

Happy birthday to a teacher who has
just the right balance of playfulness
and seriousness!

You’re so easy-going and all for having a
laugh, which makes your lessons the best,
but the moment someone steps out of line
something clicks in you and you come
down on them like a ton of bricks!

It’s actually quite funny to watch you go
from one extreme to the other! One
minute you’re laughing, and then the
next you could be shouting at someone!
It certainly keeps everyone on their toes!

Wishing you a calm and relaxed birthday

Happy birthday, teacher!

I honestly don’t know how you do what
you do so gracefully, day in and day out.

you always seem to keep your cool!
You must have the patience of a saint!

during their attendance at my school!

persevering through all these years,
especially when you have to put up
with cheeky students like me!
