Thank you for escorting our guest speakers during the fall workshops. Your meeting each person in the parking lot with a large umbrella was a very thoughtful gesture that everyone appreciated. No one expected the weather to be so stormy, so you were a real life saver. Their gratitude was evident. Thanks for being so attentive to details.

Once again you set the tone for the year by helping us run a successful conference. We appreciated your unfailing attention to detail. With all the last minute snags, we worried that something would fall through the cracks, but you anticipated every contingency. Several participants commented on how well you had organized the event.

We are fortunate to have you donate your time on occasions like this. On behalf of the Springfield Education Association, I express heartfelt thanks for all you do.

Thank you very much for the extra help you gave me so I could pass my statistics class. I know how busy you are, so I really appreciated the time you spent with me. This class was the only thing standing between me and my degree, and, as you know, I had a very hard time understanding and remembering the concepts. Thanks to you I will be graduating in June. You are the kind of professor that makes this university a great place to learn.

Thank Someone For Help or Support

thank you mail to team

Do you see the efforts of a team and want to encourage and congratulate the members? You can use these sample thank-you letters for inspiration on how to formally thank a team member in writing.

Sending thank you letters is an effective way to raise team morale and encourage strong and consistent ownership of new and continuing projects. Especially when your company doesn’t have the resources to award raises or promotions for excellent performance, the formal extension of a simple “thank you” note of sincere praise and gratitude can do wonders in heightening a team member’s confidence and level of job satisfaction.

Happy employees who feel noticed and appreciated are productive employees, and this contributes to an upbeat and positive company culture.

What to Include in Your Thank-You Note

Be specific about the project, and each individual’s contribution. Especially if the employees aren’t direct reports, mention what made them stand out, and be sure to copy their supervisor as well.

In your note to the supervisor, you should praise by name any individuals on the project who really impressed you, as well as your appreciation for his or her management of the overall team.

Personalize Your Thank-You Notes

You should modify these notes to fit the specific project, task, and team composition. Be sure to provide descriptions of the specific contributions you are most impressed by – doing so provides valuable feedback about his or her work performance to an employee. It also inspires them to own and take pride in the particular skills and actions that have contributed to solid project outcomes.

Sending personal notes to each individual is the ideal strategy, as well as a general note of thanks to the overall team.

What to Write in a Professional Thank You Message

thank you mail to team

Thank you to employees – Team and Individual Thank You Note Examples

If you are a boss, I encourage you to thank your employees often. You could send them an appreciation message via email or write them a handwritten note.

Some things you can thank them for are their hard work, good customer service, excellent performance, and years of service.

National Employee Appreciation Day is celebrated the first Friday in March in the United States and Canada. While I recommend thanking your employees year round, do not neglect to thank them on National Employee Appreciation Day.

I have been an employee for over 20 years. As an employee, I can say that being thanked and appreciated feels good. I also have a better impression of the bosses I’ve had that say “thank you” on a regular basis.

Some bosses may feel that employee’s salary is a thank you. Salary is expected in exchange for doing the job. Money isn’t everything. Saying thank you shows appreciation for the work that is being done.

How to thank your employees

Thanking your employees for something specific is best. If you say “You are great, Thanks for all you do” the employee may wonder if you know how they spend their time. It’s too generic to be meaningful.

Thank-you emails can also be sent out to the entire team. And it’s also nice when the boss brings in breakfast (bagels, donuts, healthy version of breakfast) to the office on the day he is thanking the team. Including why the team is being thanked is beneficial. For example, you can thank them for completing a large project or putting in extra time at the end of the quarter to get the work done.

When thanking one person, I recommend a handwritten thank you note. Almost anything handwritten stands out above email. If you work in the same office location, you can hand deliver it or leave it for them as a surprise on their desk.

Regardless if you choose to send via email or handwrite the note, remember that others may see your note, so don’t include anything you would consider confidential. If you want to thank them for something that needs to remain 100% confidential, I recommend doing so in person in a private setting (ex. your office, conference room, etc.).

Another idea is to take the team or individual out to lunch (and hopefully you will receive some follow-up thank you notes!) or dinner. Choosing dinner or lunch will depend on your team members. Some team members have obligations outside of the work day that will make it difficult or impossible to attend (ex. family/children) or they might not want to spend any time outside of office doing a “forced” work event.

If you have the power, letting your employees leave a couple of hours early (paid, of course) is usually appreciated!

8 Email Templates to Thank Employees for Their Great Work

thank you mail to team

Hi Team!
I just wanted to take a minute today to let you all know what a fantastic job you are doing for this company. When I first started here in the Spring the company was having a lot of problems. Unprofessional behavior was rampant and sales were poor. Honestly I was a little worried about what I had gotten myself into!

Since then however you all have been absolutely fantastic about turning things around. Not only have you met my requests for changes and transitioned into the routines seamlessly but you all have gone over and above my best expectations. It is truly your hard work and dedication that have turned this company around. Now our company is doing very well. The job atmosphere has completely changed for the better and our sales are higher than ever. I think everyone is really excited about the new changes that we have all implemented around here. Anyway I just wanted to let you all know that I really appreciate your hard work and dedication and that we wouldn’t be where we are today if it wasn’t for all of you.

Thanks and keep up the great work!

Sincerely Yours,

Allison Smith
