Letter of thanks for teacher
June 16, 2019 Anniversary Wishes 2 comments

It is always a beautiful gesture to send a thank you letter to a teacher who has changed your child's perspective towards studies, and maybe.

Who can understand the teachers’ work better than the parents? The children are too little persons to realize how hard it is, to deal with the messy crowd of tiny bodies that are full of endless energy, creativity, and, sometimes, contumacy. Now, being the adults, we can only think of old school times to laugh at our weird behavior and the teachers’ love and subaudition, as it was impossible to talk with us – we did not want to discuss some topics (especially if they touched personal life and all the troubles related to the school subjects).

It is important to support the teachers, as their politeness, kindness, and attentiveness help us grow and develop. The parents are always grateful to the persons who help them to teach their children and sometimes try to thank them for their work. If you are in this grateful group and do not know how to express your feelings – check our warm thank you notes for teachers to get a bit of inspiration.

Thank You Note to Preschool Teacher from Parents

A teacher is a strict and strong father, a gentle and loving mother, a cool and intelligent friend and just a kind person. If you want to support a preschool teacher of your child – take one of these nice sayings and include them in your grateful letter. Be sure, he or she will appreciate that with all the heart!

  • “We, parents, may be accountants, scientists, doctors, and engineers – but nothing contributes to the nation’s development more than the sacrifices made by teachers. Thank you.”
  • “The school may have found a teacher in you, but our child found a hero in you. Thanks.”
  • “Teachers should be called Fillers because they fill all the gaps and crevices in a child’s life. Thanks for making our child’s life rounded and complete.”
  • “Your words are the sparks that light up our children’s futures. Thank you.”
  • “For the world, you are one person, but for our children, you are the world! Thank you, teacher.”
  • We know some times, your own children were deprived of your care and attention because you were busy attending to ours. We would like your children to know how awesome you are and implore them to be grateful to have such a person as you.
  • I have you to thank for inspiring my child to come out of her shell. She loves you so dearly, and she seems to think that you are made of magic. Thank you for being so good and so patient with her. I’m so glad for teachers like you who really make a difference in a child’s life. God bless you more and keep up the wonderful work!
  • Thank you for being the guiding light, and for always being nice to our child. Thanks for everything that you do.
  • Teachers like you are one in a million! Thank you so much!
  • Thank you for creating such a fun and educational environment for (name of a child). We really appreciate it.

Thank You for Being a Great Teacher

Do you have a lot to say to the teacher of your child? Do you feel that it will be not enough to tell one or two phrases? Take these big monologues, full of emotions and gratitude, and feel certain – your greeting will be the best one among those short and shy sayings from the other parents!

  • “Teachers are probably the most underrated yet the most powerful professionals in the whole world. Their work has a long-term impact on not just the lives of the children they teach but on society as a whole. They have the power to shape generations, impact minds and make the world a better place. Thank you for your contribution.”
  • “Our once introvert child’s personality has bloomed open like a beautiful fragrant flower ever since being tended by a lovely gardener in the form of a teacher like you. Thanks.”
  • “We might not be paid to teach our children the values of life, but your salaries are far too miniscule considering that your words will resonate inside our children’s minds for the rest of their lives. Thank you for taking good care of our child.”
  • “Parents have got the easy job of raising our own kids. They are rewarded for all their sacrifices with the joy of watching their own blood grow up into fine young men and women. Teachers have got the tough jobs. Their rewards are limited to the hope that their wisdom will make a tiny difference in the lives of children, helping them to be better human beings. Thank you for all your selfless sacrifices.”
  • “As a wonderful teacher, you may not realize that all good teachers have good parental qualities. But as good parents, we realize that we don’t have exquisite teaching qualities like yours. Thank you for taking good care of our child.”
  • We are grateful that our child experienced studentship while with you. Indeed, it has shaped greatness into our child, more than we could have imagined.
  • I may not say this all the time, but your help and guidance to our children are very much appreciated. You are helping us raise them to become such talented, smart, and kind individuals. You are making our work as parents so much easier. Thank you and we appreciate you very much!
  • I’d like to give you the credit you deserve for guiding my child and for making your class a comfortable place for [him/her] to learn and grow into adulthood.
  • It is impossible to put a price tag on the kind of education our child receives because as a teacher, your guidance is truly priceless. Thank you.
  • The school may have found a teacher in you, but our child found a hero in you. Thank you!

Short Thank You Note to Teacher from Child

Children are always eager to say something – and, fortunately, they usually say a lot of pleasant things. The positive, creative and funny teachers always inspire all the pupils, and if your child’s educator is such kind of man, be sure that your little cutie will ask you to help him/her write some heartfelt words to thank for a teacher. We provide you with several examples of how such a “thank you” should sound.

  • “Thank you for all the encouragement you have given me in the last school year. I don’t know what I would have done without your endless support and cannot thank you enough.”
  • “Teachers like you should be immortalized so that we can forever receive the education that is truly prized. Thanks.”
  • “The most wonderful time of the year, teacher, to tell you that you are an amazing person. Thank you for all the hard work you have put in to make our lessons interesting and fun. I hope you and your family have a happy holiday.”
  • “You’re not just my teacher, you are my guide, my friend, and my second parent. I’m grateful, and will always be, for your kindness, love, and support. Thank you!”
  • “I just want you to know that you are the best teacher. You simply stand among the rest. Please accept my gratitude for everything you did for me. I feel so blessed to have an amazing teacher like you in my life. Thank You.”
  • If I hadn’t had you as a teacher, I don’t know where I’d be. You may not know it, but your classes have given me the self-confidence to follow my dreams. Thank you for that and know that you will be in my heart forever.
  • I feel so fortunate to have been placed in your class. You have amazed and inspired me daily and for that I am thankful because you are truly a wonderful teacher.
  • My teacher, I’ve learned much more than the ABCs from you. Because you’ve Always Been Caring, you’ve helped me to be more knowledgeable as well as a better person. Thank you.
  • The words won’t be enough to describe how thankful I am for the guidance and inspiration you gave me. I know being a teacher is not easy at all, but you have always supported and took care of your students as if we were your own children. Thank you for all the work.
  • By far you are one of those people I look up to. Not only are you a wonderful and talented teacher but also a role model for your students. Thank you!

Words of Appreciation for Teachers from Parents

Teachers often feel the lack of enthusiasm, as the children tend to be blind to the tiredness of their beloved educator. They can even make the things worse, supposing that he or she is getting angry on them! In such a situation a teacher can lose all the verve. However, simple words can return the mental strength to him/her, as all the teachers know the vital of words better than anyone!

  • “As parents whenever we get credit for our child’s achievements we just say ‘Our child has the best teacher’ Thanks for bringing out the best in our child.”
  • “No matter how hard parents try to give their children the best of values, they will ultimately grow up to be young adults whose personalities are shaped by teachers like you. Today we want to show gratitude for the way you have looked after our child, we know you really care because every time he has come back from school he has smiled. Thanks.”
  • “As parents, we try and give our child the best of everything at home. We rest easy because we know our child will get the best of everything at school – thanks to wonderful teachers like you.”
  • “As parents, we have lost because you are a bigger influence on our child than us. But this is one race we are happy to lose. Thanks for imparting the best lessons to our kid.”
  • “Great teachers like you aren’t always the ones who have fancy degrees and qualifications. They are the ones who have a big heart and a desire to make the world a better place one kid at a time. Thank you.”
  • We feel so lucky that our kid got you for a teacher this year. We certainly hit the jackpot in the teacher department!
  • No card could ever hold all the thanks we want to give to you for your mentorship. Thank you for being a teacher and friend for our children.
  • Thank you for sharing your gift of teaching with us!
  • Thank you for the sweat and tears you have invested in our child. You went over and beyond your pay cheque. In fact, there is no amount that can pay you back enough.
  • You cannot imagine how much comfort your support has given me while I’m away from my [son/daughter] for hours. Thanks for making me feel at ease while I’m away!

Dear Teachers,. Another school year is over, and there's a good chance you haven't been thanked for another year's hard work. That might.

Thank-You Letters to Teachers

letter of thanks for teacher

This week was Teachers Appreciation Week, but I already graduated so I couldn't be there to give you a candle or any other useless thing that you'll probably never see after you take it home. I can't afford to send you extravagant gifts that you would appreciate because I'm a poor college student. But I can take this time to say, thank you.

Thank you for teaching me more than what was in your lesson plan. You never made me feel like I was just a number in your class. Thank you for showing me what it meant to be a light to those in the darkness. You were always kind to everyone, even when they did not deserve it.

Thank you for teaching me that I can be more than a state test or my ACT score. You didn't let me give up when I told you how tired I was. Because of you, I know that I am beautiful, even though it may not be by society's standards. I know that I am better than that quiz I failed because you taught me that a GPA does not define the rest of my life.

Thank you for giving me the chance to be a leader, because now I can stand up for what I believe in and myself. When I told you what I wanted to do in college, you encouraged me. Even when I changed my major two times in a year, you told me that I could still be successful. Thank you for not acting like you were only at school to get paid (because you and I both know you aren't paid enough).

Thank you for treating me as if I was you own child when I needed support. I wasn't afraid to branch out after high school. You didn’t get annoyed with me when I told you I didn’t understand. Because of this, I now understand what it means to be patient. You showed me what it meant to be a Christian with my actions, and not just with my words. I know you weren’t allowed to say “Jesus” in school, but you showed it without having to say it.

Thank you for giving me a safe space where I could be myself without anyone judging me. I couldn't do that anywhere else in school.

Thank you for not only letting me act like an idiot inside of class but also in my everyday life. You gave me advice that I will always remember and that will still be useful years down the road.

Thank you for teaching me real life lessons that a traditional education could not offer. You taught me integrity, humility and kindness. I couldn't have learned that from what the curriculum told you to teach me.

But most of all, thank you for giving me a group of friends that make me feel just as safe and comfortable like you did. I had a free space to express myself without being judged by the student population (and the English teachers—they like to gossip).

I will never remember every lesson you taught me, but I will remember how much I loved my time with you and how loved you made me feel. Thank you.

Thank You Teacher! Sample Wording

letter of thanks for teacher

Let’s appreciate our teachers by writing them the perfect teacher appreciation letter. Imagine the joy it will bring your teacher. Nothing is better than to show a little love and thanks for teacher appreciation!

Although teachers put an inordinate amount of effort into preparing students for their future, their contribution is sometimes overlooked. Older students, in particular, such as those in middle or high school, may not realize how many teachers regularly give up their free time in order to provide the student with the help or assistance they need.

So, what’s a teacher appreciation letter?

This help comes in many forms: teachers may provide emotional support and stability to students who are dealing with difficult issues at home; they may use their own finances to purchase classroom equipment and spend days or weeks trying to obtain funding on behalf of their students; and teachers may devote additional time to students who require extra academic help.

Whilst students may sometimes overlook the sacrifices teachers make, teachers themselves may forget just how important their contributions are. With teachers under constant time pressure, there is rarely an opportunity to assess the impact you’re having on your students as individuals and to celebrate the success your effort brings.

Although teachers should be recognized and celebrated by colleagues, peers and the community as a whole, it is often the words of students which have the most profound effect. When pupils take the time to jot down a note of thanks or a letter recognizing the impact a teacher has had on them, it can show just how powerful a teacher can be.

Students may include a range of things in their letters, such as:
  • How the teacher helped them throughout the school year
  • A topic they now understand because of the teacher’s efforts
  • How an teacher encouraged or motivated the student
  • Whether they have applied skills learned in the classroom to other areas
  • How the teacher has helped them to progress in further education or the workplace

Teacher appreciation letter examples

To highlight the beneficial effects teacher appreciation letters can have, we’ve listed a sample of student thank you letters below:

Dear Teacher,

When I first started taking your lessons, I was scared of you and sometimes dreaded the next class. Nothing seemed good enough and you refused to accept my assignments if they weren’t done to the best of my ability, which drove me crazy.

Even though I gave you a hard time and earned a few detentions, you kept encouraging me to work harder and kept telling me I could achieve more. After weeks of being told off and kept after class, it seemed easier to just do the work the best I could and it paid off.

You taught me how much I am capable of and what I could achieve if I was willing to put the effort in. This is a lesson I am using in so many areas of my life now and it is helping me to achieve all sorts of targets I never thought were within my reach.

Thank you for making me do my best and for never giving up.

Grade 11 student.

Dear Sir,

We made it!

I never thought I’d understand math and knew it was something I’d always struggle to do. Even though I was behind the other students and wanted to just give up, you kept reassuring me that I could learn what I needed to and that I could pass your class.

Without your help I wouldn’t have had the confidence to try, as I was scared other students would laugh at me when I got things wrong. You made me realize it’s OK to make mistakes and that we only learn by getting things wrong a few times first.

Thank you for all your help this year. I never thought this day would come but I’m so grateful it has!

High school graduate

Dear Miss,

Thank you for making school fun and for letting us run around in the morning. I like drawing best but I have fun all the time in your class. I will miss you next year and hope you can stay my teacher forever.

Kindergarten graduate

Dear Sir,

I hope you’re well and still enjoying teaching at Rockcliffe. I’m sure the students are still as frustrating as they were back when I was in your class!

I wanted to write you and tell you that I graduated with honors and now have a bachelor’s in physics! If it wasn’t for your lessons in grades eight and nine I never would have considered science as an option but you made the subject so exciting and stimulating that I knew it’s something I wanted to continue studying.

Throughout college I spent a long time considering what type of job I wanted to get and which skills I could develop in my future career. After a lot of soul-searching, I knew the right path for me was teaching and I have you to thank for that.

In your lessons I saw how creative and inspiring teachers can be, and I gained first-hand experience when it came to understanding the impact one teacher can have on his or her pupils. I am so grateful for the lessons you taught me – both the scientific and non-scientific ones and I only hope I can emulate your style in the classroom one day.

I’m due to begin student teaching in the next few weeks so I will let you know how it goes. I think standing in front of a class of students is going to be more nerve-wracking then I realized!

Once again, thank you for everything you’ve done for me and for all your other students. The impact you’ve had and continue to have cannot be overstated.

College graduate

Dear Teacher,

When I first met you I didn’t want to be in your class and didn’t think we would get along at all. I was right. I didn’t understand the way you explained assignments and we had a few heated discussions about why we studied some topics.

I still think some of the subjects we had to do were a waste of time but I want to thank you for taking the time to explain things to me in a way I understood. Letting me present my assignments instead of writing them was really helpful and made me feel more confident in class.

After you helped me to get an assessment I found out I was dyslexic and this explained why I got so frustrated in class. Even though I still struggle with reading and writing, I have learned new ways to remember spellings and I’m getting better at it all the time.

Thank you for helping me, even when I didn’t really appreciate it, and thank you for making sure I got the extra help I needed.

Grade 10 student
