We are truly grateful for the abundance of generosity and kindness of your gift. We look forward to our fabulous holiday in Sri Lanka later this year, which would not be possible without your help.

We can’t wait to start the next chapter of our lives and having you share in the many memories still to come.”

2, Thanks to you

Wedding photographer: Vaughn Barry

“Thank you so much for celebrating with us on our wedding day. It truly was the best day ever and it would not have been the same without you! We are so grateful for your generosity and for sharing our most special day ever with us.”

Your friends and family really made your wedding day, right?
Well tell them by saying: “Best day ever, thanks to you!”

Oh how I love the Treloars included this line on the front of their thank you card πŸ™‚

3, Even more magical..

Wedding Photographer: LC Allison

“Thank you for celebrating with us on our wedding day! Your presence made the day even more magical. We are very grateful and happy to have such amazing friends and family. Thank you for the generous gift. We appreciate all the love and support.”

Let’s be honest, your magical wedding day was only possible having all your friends and family there, celebrating with you.. Put your thoughts into words on a thank you card and show them your love!

4, From the gusts of wind..

“We loved sharing our wedding day with you, and we wanted to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making the day so memorable, and for your generous wedding gift.

From the gusts of wind during the ceremony, to the laughter and tears of happiness during the speeches, to the skilful moves on the dance floor, it made our day so special and one we will never forget.

We feel so lucky to have so many wonderful people in our lives.”

5, Are you feeling lucky?

Wedding photographer: Liz Jorquera

Are you feeling grateful about your friends and family?

Every now and then, your friends just want to hear that you feel so lucky to have them in your life. Why not put that down on paper and send them off to your sweet friends!

“From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank you for celebrating our marriage with us. It was the most incredible day of our lives, and it wouldn’t have been the same without you.

We are so lucky to be surrounded by a beautiful circle of friends and family that made our wedding day perfect. We are grateful for your presence, warm wishes and generous gift and look forward to sharing many more memories with you!”

6, Words that speak volume

“It meant the world to us to have you as part of our wedding day.
Thank you for the love and laugher that you have contributed to our lives. We are so glad that you were able to join us in Margaret River on our first day as husband and wife.

It was the most wonderful day of our lives and it would not have been the same without you! We are truly grateful for your generosity and presence on our special day.”

Ok I love this thank you card!

This is the cutest because this couple is not only thanking their guests for being part of their wedding day but the contribution to their lives. Words speak volume and you have the power to make your guests feel special. Because let’s be honest, they made you feel super special on your wedding day, right? πŸ™‚

At the end of the day, a wedding is a celebration that brings the friends and families together from both side.

7, The most important part

“From the bottom of our hearts we would like to thank you for sharing in our special day and making it the most memorable days of our lives. From getting wet during the ceremony and then dancing the night away under the stars on the dance floor we definitely felt the love from you all on the day.

Thank you so much for your generous gift. This will help us create our new home when it is built.

We are looking forward to sharing the next chapter of our lives together and sharing many more memories with you all.”

I couldn’t think of a short and simple bullet point for this so I went with – the most important part.

If you are having a wishing well at your wedding, your guests would probably want to know where their money is going!
Or is it just me? Haha..

Anyways..

The thing is it’s so nice to know how a couple decides to use their wishing well.

A beautiful couple has donated their wishing well to a charity and as a guest to receive a thank you card to say that it has gone into making a difference in other people’s lives, that meant a lot to me!

Two of my other friends have sent me a thank you card saying that they’ve used it towards their beautiful honeymoon.

While it sucks that I couldn’t travel with them lol Jokes jokes.. it was so lovely to know that my small contribution has allowed them to share some great memories together as newlyweds.

In this case, Dom and Josh used it to build their new home πŸ™‚ Just imagine walking into their new home next time and think “Hey I actually own this house although with a tiny percentage hahahaha..”.

8, A dream come true

“We thank our family and friends for celebrating our joy, supporting us and sharing in our love. We sincerely thank you for making our day perfect and sharing in the day our dreams came true.”

Having pulled off the perfect wedding is truly a dream come true for many couples so if that was your wedding, why not thank your guests for making it a reality for you guys.

Gratitude truely goes a long way!

9, Spill the beans

“Thank you so much for being a part of our wedding day. It was so great to have you all there to celebrate with us.

We really appreciate all your kind and generous gifts and contributions toward our honeymoon. We had the most amazing time travelling around Italy in September/October.

We can’t wait to see what the future will bring for us and we are excited for you to be a part of it.”

This is a tad similar to the 4th point but Luke and Sophie gave more details as to what and when they’ve done with their gifts.

If you’ve used your wishing well towards your honeymoon, tell your guests where you and your new hubby have gone. I’m sure they would love to know how Italy went next time they see you!

Don’t forget to have the photos ready to show them πŸ˜›

10, Made it!

Wedding photographer: She Takes Picture He Makes Films

“We made it through our 1st year!

From the bottom of our hearts we would like to extend a belated, but heartfelt thank you for travelling near and far to share in the joy of our wedding. We had the most amazing day which was made all the more memorable as we were able to share it with you.

Your love, warm wishes and generous gift are truly appreciated. Thank you!”

OMG you made it!!

That’s so worth celebrating..

If you haven’t said your thank you to your friends and family, it’s not too late to send a belated but heartfelt thank you card to them.

It will be a lovely surprise for them to receive your wedding highlights from a year ago πŸ™‚

It doesn’t have to be extravagant. Or does it? πŸ˜›

When it comes to a thank you card, your friends and family would much rather reading something from the heart ❀

Try writing something that is more personal. Perhaps something they can relate to.

Ok let’s get into it, here’s my 7 wording ideas for your wedding thank you cards:

FTC disclosure: This post contains affiliate links, which means I may receive a commission for purchases made through my links.

1. Keep it short & sweet

If you would like to keep your thank you message short and sweet, you can easily thank your guests for a few things in a single sentence.

Instead of saying how much you appreciate their presence at your wedding, warm wishes towards your marriage and generous gift to celebrate your new life as newly weds.

You can do this.

“From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank you for sharing in the celebration of our wedding. We felt the love and sincerity all around us which made it the most memorable day of our lives.

We are grateful for your presence, warm wishes and your generous gift and look forward to sharing many more memories with you.”

I love this wording because that pretty much sums it all up!

2. Bring them back to the wedding

This thank you card is real.

“From the bottom of our hearts we would like to thank you for celebrating our special day with us and making it the most memorable day of our lives. From sweating it out together during the ceremony, to dancing the night away in the rain, we definitely felt the love from you all on the day.

We can’t wait for our trip to Europe at the end of July, which wouldn’t be possible without all of your generous gifts.

We look forward to starting the next chapter of our lives together and sharing many more memories with you all!”

I love that The Lowletts shared a bit of the ups and downs from the wedding day!

You know what’s even better?

Their friends and family actually shared those memories with the couple so I can just imagine them giggling and remembering those funny moments of sweating and dancing together on the day while reading this thank you message!

Let’s send a thank you card to your guests that makes them feel something.

Anything hilarious happened on your wedding day?

Maybe something not-so-funny at the time (oops!) but would be a good laugh now? Those are the memories that will live forever so why not put it on paper to help your guests relive them.

3. Make them feel special

“Thank you so much for celebrating with us at our wedding. It was the most wonderful day of our lives. It would not have been the same without you! We are truly grateful for your generosity & presence on our special day.”

This line surely makes them feel super special knowing that their presence was appreciated! This thank you message is perfect for thanking your guests for coming and celebrating with you at your wedding.

If you’re also sending a thank you card to the guests who couldn’t make it to your wedding, make sure you personalised another thank you message for them. Otherwise it would be a bit awkward for them to receive this message.

You can find thank you card wording ideas for guests who didn’t attend later in this blog.

Keep reading on..

4. Show the love. (Get mushy!)

Oh yes, time to get mushy!

If you guys had a ‘Romeo and Juliet’ kind of love, perhaps there is a few people you need to really thank for being with you through the journey.

These are the people who has really been on your side and hey it’s worth sending a personalised thank you message that is a bit mushy! πŸ˜›

“Thank you for being a part of our lives and supporting us through our journey. We were so blessed to have you celebrate and be a part of our Wedding day.

Thank you for your abundant generosity and kindness with your gift, we are beyond grateful.

We love you and can’t wait to celebrate the future with you!”

I said mushy, not cringy..

You can say “We love you” in a thank you card if you really mean it.

Your forever friends will definitely appreciate such lovely words!

Send something to your forever friends that says “We love you and can’t wait to celebrate the future with you!”.

5. Never too late

Why?

Because it will be a lovely surprise for them to receive your thank you card now.

I promise you, it will make their day getting your thank you card on an uneventful day! People are so used to getting bills in the mail that a lovely thank you card really brightens their day. It will also help them relive your wonderful wedding day all over again!

Dinner Thank You Notes

How to Write a Thank You Note

Writing a thank you note doesn't need to be difficult or time consuming. Here's a simple formula that works for any occasion:

  • Express your gratitude and name the gift or action you're writing the thank you note for.
  • Write a sentence or two about how you benefited from the recipient's gift or actions.
  • Conclude by mentioning the next time you hope to speak to or visit with the recipient.

While not required, a well-chosen quote could also add a touching note to your writing and personalize your card or letter even more. YourDictionary has a host of quotes for you to choose from.

Handwritten thank you notes are ideal, but it's now considered acceptable to send an email thank you note for a time sensitive occasion. For example, you would want to send an email thank you after a job interview to make sure your note was received before the final hiring decision was made.

Words to Include in a Thank You Note

There are many thoughtful words and sentiments that you can use to show your gratitude in thank you notes. We have selected a few key phrases that will help you get started with writing a touching, appreciative note.

Thank You Notes for Events

After a wedding, a graduation, retirement or anniversary party, or other special event, it's customary to thank your guests for helping you celebrate. Words and phrases appropriate for an event thank you note include:

  • We are forever grateful that you were able to share our wedding with us and we are so touched by your generous gift.
  • We are so pleased you could join us for Liam's first birthday. He loves his first train set so much. I'm going to send you a cute picture of him playing with it.
  • Thank you for celebrating our retirement with us. We can't wait to get out on the golf course more with you.
  • Happy Holidays! Thanks so much for taking the time to attend our family's Christmas party, we know it's a hectic time of year.
  • You've been there for me in some tough times and I'm so happy you were there to see me graduate. You shouldn't have gotten me a gift but it was so nice that you did and I'll really treasure it.
  • I'm still smiling! I hope you know that Mark and I will never forget the great experience we had celebrating our anniversary with you.
  • We're overjoyed you made it to our event. It was wonderful to see you after so long and we really appreciate you coming from so far away to be there with us.

Hospitality Thank You Notes

When you've been invited as a guest in someone's home, send a thank you note expressing appreciation for this hospitality. Some phrases that would be appropriate include:

  • Thank you again for inviting us into your lovely home. Your hospitality was much appreciated as we're settling into the neighborhood.
  • Sometimes the simplest things mean the most. That wonderful dinner and a comfy bed was very much appreciated after a stressful week.
  • Thanks so much for the great time the other night. We loved seeing your beautiful new home and sampling your mother's famous lasagna.
  • It was such a blessing to be invited to your Thanksgiving Day feast. Thank you for the delicious meal and warm welcome.
  • Thank you for taking me in and feeding me after my surgery. It was such a blessing to not have to worry about cooking and cleaning during my recovery. You saved the day!
  • All I can say is wow! Brunch was absolutely delicious. I only wish I had your talents in the kitchen!

Thank You Notes for a Special Gift

It's always a good idea to send a thank you note for a gift, especially if the gift arrived via mail or the giver wasn't around to see you open it. Some examples of wording include:

  • The cozy blanket you crocheted made my day. I'll be thinking of you every time I'm curled up on the couch watching Netflix.
  • I am so grateful for the lovely floral arrangement you sent after my surgery. Daisies are my favorite flower and the vase is the perfect color to match my freshly painted kitchen.
  • Every time I walk past the breathtaking landscape picture in the hallway, it brings back happy memories of our trip. I will treasure it forever. Thank you!
  • Thank you ever so much for the sweet present. A box of gourmet chocolates was just what I needed to put a smile on my face.
  • We love the beautiful gift you got for us. The serving bowls will be put to good use at our Fourth of July BBQ. I'm looking forward to seeing you there.
  • We love our beautiful new lamp and we cannot thank you enough for your thoughtfulness. It's just what we needed for the den.
  • Thank you for such a special present. The Secret Garden has been my favorite book since I was a little girl and I'm touched that you were thinking of me. You know me so well!
  • I didn't expect to find a huge plant on my doorstep when I got home today! Thank you so much, it's the perfect addition to the patio.

Thank You Notes for Help or Kindness

When someone goes out of their way to help make your day a bit brighter, you can show your appreciation with a heartfelt thank you note. Try using:

  • I am so thankful for the time you took to help with my presentation. You're a wonderful friend and coworker.
  • Thanks so much for taking the time to help with Dalton's science fair project. We're so grateful to have a dinosaur expert in the family.
  • We really appreciate all you have done to help us get set up in our new apartment. Look for your housewarming party invitation once we are unpacked!
  • It was so nice of you to help me out the other day when I couldn't pick up the twins from daycare. We're lucky to have you in our lives.
  • We are forever in your debt for helping us through this tough time. I'm humbled and grateful for your support.
  • I will always remember how you helped me to get this wonderful opportunity. I can only hope that someday I'll be in a position to repay you.
  • Thank you so much for all you have done to help us clean up after our basement flooded. Neighbors like you are a real treasure!
  • You've bent over backwards for me once again. I couldn't ask for a better friend!

Job Search Thank You Notes

A job search often requires several thank you notes. You should send a note after an interview, as well as to thank people who offered you job leads, networking connections, or a professional reference. For example:

  • Our conversation yesterday confirmed my interest in becoming part of your staff. I'm particularly excited by the prospect of being able to develop my own departmental newsletter. Please feel free to contact me if I can provide you with any additional information.
  • Thank you for speaking with me yesterday about the account management position at XYZ Incorporated. I'm confident my education and past experience would allow me to meet your needs effectively. I'm very interested in the opportunity and look forward to hearing from you.
  • I can't stop thinking about the creative approach to project management that you described in our meeting yesterday. Thank you for taking the time to interview me. I may be reached at 555-555-5555 if you need any further information.
  • Thank you for introducing me to Daniel Masterson at XYZ Incorporated. I'm very grateful for the connection and humbled by your support of my job search.
  • Your introduction to Daniel Masterson at XYZ Incorporated is much appreciated. Our informational meeting went very well and I'm excited about the employment opportunities they have available.
  • My interview for the bookkeeping position at XYZ Incorporated went very well. Thanks so much for agreeing to serve as a reference on my behalf.
  • I'm pleased to report that I've accepted an internship with XYZ Incorporated. Thanks again for answering my questions about the field of cloud computing and agreeing to serve as a professional reference.

Wedding Thank You Wording Tips

thank you invitation wording

Receiving an invitation is always pleasant. After all, it means that someone has remembered us and would appreciate our presence on an important occasion. It is gratifying to participate in the joy of young spouses or in the birth of a baby. Or maybe we have been invited to a business conference, which means that we are appreciated from a professional point of view.

Sometimes, however, not knowing how to respond to an invitation could get us into trouble, especially if we have to do it in a language which is not our own. Maybe we do not know how to distinguish between an informal tone and a more formal, distant one. Or perhaps we do not know the most appropriate expressions of politeness required for the occasion.

And you? Maybe you have received an invitation to the wedding of an American or a British friend, or an invitation to a work convention abroad. Whatever the occasion, whether you have decided to accept or reject the invitation, read the following article to find the information that you will need to respond in the most appropriate manner.
