On behalf of the European Economic and Social Committee, I am writing to congratulate you on your recent election to the position of President of the European Parliament. We look forward to continuing together the excellent cooperation between our two institutions.
Your election comes at a time of crisis for the European Union. A main objective of all the European actors is to regain the trust and interest of the citizens in our project and our work. The European Parliament, as the democratically elected body of the EU, must play a major role. The European Economic and Social Committee, as the representative body of organized civil society in Europe, is ready to be a strong partner in this effort.
As you know, a Cooperation Agreement has been signed in 2014 between our two institutions. I am confident that you will ensure its continued implementation and wish to assure you of our continued commitment to its principles.
The EESC is also ready to explore together with the Parliament new ways to enhance the follow-up in the EP to our opinions, to ensure the proper coordination between our members as well as identify other joint priorities. I also look forward to a meeting with you in the coming period, where we can discuss these issues.
I would also like to take this opportunity to extend to you an invitation to address the members of the European Economic and Social Committee during one of our upcoming Plenary Sessions in 2017. We are certain that your presence will greatly strengthen the ties between the legislative of the Union and its civil society representatives.
I wish you success during your mandate as President.
European Economic and Social Committee

Reasons for Writing a Letter to the Winning Candidate. You are a personal friend or Congratulations on your election as Mayor. I'm extremely.
The National Stone, Sand, and Gravel Association (NSSGA) congratulates you on your election to the United States Senate.
NSSGA represents the crushed stone, sand and gravel—or construction aggregates—industries. Our member companies produce more than 90% of the crushed stone and 70% of the sand and gravel consumed annually in the United States. The director of the United States Geological Service called NSSGA the “largest mining association in the world,” based on the volume of product represented. With over 10,000 operations nationwide, virtually every Congressional District and approximately 70 percent of the nation’s counties house an aggregates operation, many with multiple operations.
Nearly two billion metric tons of aggregates were produced in 2011 at a value of approximately $17 billion, contributing $40 billion to the GDP of the United States. Without these important commodities, the nation’s infrastructure could not be built or maintained, and the commerce and quality of life would be severely reduced. The aggregates industry workforce is made up of about 107,800 men and women. Every $1 million in aggregate sales creates 19.5 jobs, and every dollar of industry output returns $1.58 to the economy.
Maintaining and improving our nation’s transportation infrastructure is a top legislative priority. The current surface transportation reauthorization, MAP-21, expires on September 30, 2014, and must be reauthorized in a timely matter. NSSGA believes a new vision for surface transportation infrastructure for the 21st century is needed along with new funding methods in order to meet the increasing needs of the system and to reduce the congestion clogging our urban areas, reducing safety, and threatening the freedom of mobility American’s enjoy.
Once again, congratulations on your election and we look forward to working with you in the future.
